Certificate of Occupancy
Description: A certificate of occupancy is required to ensure completed development complies with the approved site plan and the requirements of the zoning code. A certificate of occupancy shall be required for any of the following:
  1. Occupancy and use of a building or structure hereafter erected or structurally altered.
  2. New occupancy and use of an existing building when the new use is of a different land use classification.
  3. Occupancy and use of vacant land.
  4. New use of vacant land when the new use is of a different land use classification.
  5. Any change in the tenant or use of a noncomforming use.  No change of tenant or use shall take place until a certificate of occupancy has been issued by the Building Inspector.

Initiation: The owner of the property may submit an application for certificate of occupancy.
